ART | Winning spaces

Installation Wars is a competition between Prairie Art Alliance artists at Gallery II to create the best three-dimensional work within a space in the gallery given to each artist. PAA Gallery II manager and participating artist in the show, Jennifer Snopko continues to come up with innovative programs at the gallery that Springfield has never before seen. Other PAA artists taking part in the contest are: Mary Frances-Spears, Jed Leber, Dennis Morris, Felicia Olin, Adam Perschbacher and Linda Post-Lucas. Visit through January to catch the artists in action building their installations. Pieces will be unveiled at a reception Feb. 1. Local professional artists will rate the pieces and the public may vote for their favorites, too, in person or online at www.prairieart.org. Final work will be on display until Feb. 14. Please note special hours for this exhibition. Also: For those interested in installation art, visit UIS Visual Arts Gallery’s Guns and Butter exhibit through Feb. 21. A reception is planned for Thurs, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. performance by Chicago’s Industry of the Ordinary who created the installation.
