PIES FOR PEACE

You can’t pay a lawyer with pie…or can you? The Enos Park Neighborhood Improvement Association is holding a Thanksgiving pie sale, with proceeds funding their safety and security program in the neighborhood once called “The Jewel of Springfi eld.” EPNIA uses the money to pay for neighborhood patrols by off-duty cops, a 24/7 hotline to report suspicious activity (787-ENOS), a landlord support group, and even an attorney who helps the group fi le lawsuits against absentee landlords. Combs says EPNIA sold 400 pies and raised $2,500 last year. They’re hoping to sell 450 pies this year, including pecan, pumpkin, chocolate cream, coconut cream and Dutch apple. Available Nov. 21, the pies are $13 each, with an option to get a half-pound of Starbucks Thanksgiving Blend for an additional $8. For more information, call 522-9381 or 971-9138, or visit EPNIA online at www.bit.ly/enospie.
