One of the more unique events that inspires and informs Springfield about the passions and talents of fellow neighbors is PechaKucha Night. A fifth installment takes place Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7:20 p.m. in the theater room at Capital City Bar and Grill. Nine locals take the stage and each present a six-minute, 40-second presentation using 20 PowerPoint slides. Two presentations to note are Dr. Michael Cheney’s, “The Fifth Beatle,” and Bill Furry’s, “Hysterical Historical Markers: Commemorating the ‘Absurb’ in Illinois.” Doors open one hour before event. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. PechaKucha is an international nonprofit grass roots movement. Many presentations from around the world can be viewed online at www.pecha-kucha.org.
