TERM CONTROL PLAN Notice is hereby given that the Springfield Metro Sanitary District (SMSD)- Springfield, Illinois will hold a public information meeting on the Combined Sewer Overflow - Long Term Control Plan (CSO-LTCP) as required by the CSO Control Policy of 1994 (40 CFR Part 25.3.b). The public information meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the Sapphire Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 3000 South Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, IL 62703. This meeting is a part of the SMSD CSO LTCP Public Participation Program. The goal of the Public Participation Program is to involve citizens in the development of CSO control alternative solutions that protect the local waterways and consider the financial impacts to the community as a whole. The purpose of this public information meeting is to provide background on the program, progress to date and obtain input on alternatives for controlling CSOs. All residents within the SMSD boundaries and any other interested parties, governmental agencies or groups are encouraged to attend, comment and provide input into the control alternatives. Written statements may be submitted to the SMSD Clerk prior to the meeting, at the time of the meeting and for a two week period following the meeting. Attendees will be able to review the project details through a series of exhibits. SMSD staff and their consulting engineer will be available to guide attendees through the exhibits, explaining the background of the CSO program, monitoring results, combined sewer system and receiving water modeling results, CSO control alternatives development and proposed CSO control alternatives. CSO control alternatives being considered include: sewer separation, flow storage and pumping facilities, deep tunnel storage and pumping facilities, transport and treat and satellite treatment.
