BAND SPOTLIGHT | Mike “Hobo” Coble

A Decatur native who traveled the country singing songs and meeting folks for years, the trusty troubadour stayed in Austin, Texas, for a spell and spent time in New Orleans before landing in Springfield. A voracious reader self taught in literature and an insatiable scholar of literary folk music, Hobo naturally hosts the Third Annual Bob Dylan Birthday Bash at the Brewhaus, two days before Dylan’s 70th birthday. A staple in the 80s at the Romany Club in downtown Springfield, Coble penned many classic songs, often performed by fellow songwriters, while boasting an aggressively exciting live show. With a generous amount of recordings, but never enough to keep up with the voluminous writing, the constant artist keeps on creating. Joined by fellow Dylan fan and singer-songwriter Joe Dawkins, as well as Jason Perry, Bill Kline, Josh Catalano and regular Sunday night Brewhaus stalwart Tom Irwin, plus those so inclined to hop up and do a Dylan number, Hobo Coble pays tribute to the master while demonstrating his own remarkable abilities.
