Publisher’s note

As the sad events surrounding Tim Davlin’s death unfolded last week, I tried to focus on the good stuff. I pictured him reaching out to congratulate Springfield in Bloom winners, handing out awards to the dozens of volunteer groups who pick up trash, tidy up parks, keep Springfield Green. I laughed remembering his enthusiasm for his new “local first” t-shirt and telling a crowd at Café Moxo how you could probably have breakfast at 200 different places in Springfield without ever walking into a national chain restaurant. I see him walking in a parade, serving drinks at a fundraiser, taking the time to say thanks to this person and that for their contributions to the city. We’ll each have to pick up the slack now that he’s gone. –Sharon Whalen, publisher
