A good beer is always a welcome treat, and the right beer can really set off a meal. This Sunday at Sebastian’s Hideout restaurant in Springfield, beer is the main ingredient on the menu.

The restaurant is hosting a special fivecourse dinner, with a tasty brew chosen specially to accompany each dish. The dinner starts with crispy prosciutto-wrapped asparagus and white cheddar cheese fondue paired with Lefthand Polstar Pilsner. Next is a gingerglazed roasted quail with buttery Bibb lettuce and mango Thai vinaigrette paired with Sierra Nevada Kellerweiss. Then comes the spiceseared rare tuna, spicy guacamole, chorizo cream sauce and sweet corn relish paired with Lefthand 400lb Monkey English-style Pale Ale. If you’re still able to move, you’ll be treated to beer-braised beef short ribs, cheddar and bacon potato puree, smoked tomato demi-glace paired with Sierra Nevada Torpedo. But wait there’s more: a milk stout chocolate cake with milk stout butterscotch and cinnamon ice cream paired with Sierra Nevada Porter. Top it all off with a Lefthand Sawtooth ESB (extra special bitter) beer, and you’ll need a wheelbarrow to get home.

Representatives from Sierra Nevada and Lefthand breweries will be “on tap” to talk about each beer and answer questions. Cost is $50 per person. Make reservations by calling Sebastian’s at 789-8988.
