One hundred dollars doesn’t go very far anymore, but it can still buy a house – if you’re lucky. The Springfield Area Homebuilders Association is raffling off a $250,000 house for charity, and that crisp Benjamin Franklin in your wallet could be the key to open the door.

The grand prize winner will get to choose between three homes valued at a cool quarter-million, and 49 other prizes will be awarded to other winners. The homes are located at 4713 Greenbriar Drive and 2821 Haverhill Road in Springfield and 809 Racastle Drive in Chatham. Only 4,000 tickets will be sold until the drawing on September 16 so each ticket’s chances of winning are one in 80.

Proceeds will be divided between Springfield’s Hoogland Center for the Arts, the March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois and the Springfield Parks Foundation.
