AKC Obedience and Rally Obedience Trial Saturday and Sunday, Apr 3-4, 9am-1pm Orr Building Illinois State Fairgrounds 544-3697 Free

Command performance

This is your chance to watch man’s best friend compete up close and in person Easter weekend at the Orr Building. The American Kennel Club (AKC) licensed dog Obedience and Rally Obedience Trials, one of the first AKC events in the country in which mixed breed dogs are competing and judged side-by-side with purebred dogs, judge the performance between dog and handler in various exercises such as heal and retrieve. The rally obedience trial differs from the obedience trial in that the rally includes voice commands. Watch all levels of performance, from basic to utility, in four different rings, with the most advanced contending early in the morning. Guests are asked not be bring dogs unless they are entered in the show. Also, there will be a food wagon, but there are no bleachers or seats, so bring your lawn chair. Hosted by the Capitol Canine Training Club and the Decatur Obedience Training Club.
