It’s not often that one bank donates to another bank, but these aren’t your typical banks. Employees at Illinois National Bank in Springfield are holding a healthy snack food drive for the Central Illinois Foodbank’s Kids Café program, which provides nutritious meals to children from lowincome homes during the school year. When Kids’ Café closes March 26 for spring break, INB employees will be there to offer healthy snacks instead.

INB is a locally-owned bank recognized for philanthropy in the past, and INB marketing director Lisa Ellis says the bank’s employees got fired up during national Random Acts of Kindness Week, Feb. 15-21.

“Because so many of our employees are involved with nonprofit organizations, our conversations very quickly turned away from doing something ‘random’ and toward intentionally filling a need,” Ellis says. “Our employees are so enthusiastic about this program and want other businesses and individuals alike to understand that our efforts can make a real difference.”

To donate, stop by one of INB’s 10 branches in Sangamon County with any of the following items: peanut butter, jelly, Easy Mac (macaroni & cheese), granola bars, beef or turkey jerky, 100% fruit juice, fruit snacks made with 100% fruit, multi-grain crackers, pretzels, 100 calorie snacks, teddy grahams, dried fruits (like raisins), apple sauce or fruit cups. All items should be individually-packaged.
