Springfield author Forrest P. Redd describes the morning of Nov. 3, 2004, by saying “It feels like I just got hit by a bus.” It was the day after the reelection of former President George W. Bush, and Redd was quite displeased, to put it mildly.

More than five years later, Redd is releasing a scorching critique of Bush’s presidency in book form, which he wrote because of the “disappointment, frustration, anger and outrage” he felt upon learning Bush would get a second term.

In Blood on Their Hands: How Callous Conservatives Capitalize on Clueless Constituents, Redd calls Bush to task for everything from upper-class tax breaks to the “illegal” war in Iraq.

He contrasts Bush with 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry, and he blames the American media and the American voter for choosing the former.

Redd’s passion on the topic is readily apparent, but Blood on Their Hands can read like a rant at times. If you’re interested in a book that, according to Redd, combines politics with spirituality, cosmology and quantum physics, this will be right up your alley. If you’re a Rush Limbaugh fan, you might have a harder time sticking with this one.
