Q: I am going to a job fair and will be interviewing for new jobs. I am not sure what to wear. Should I get dressed up? A: In this case, you want to look very tailored and clean. Less is more! I would recommend a nice black suit for men and women both. Men, always wear a nice tie, neutral colored long sleeve button up shirt, and black shoes to match your suit. Always pick colors that will complement you. Today is not the day to be daring. You want to make a great first impression. You may only have one shot at it. There are many options at department stores. If you are not fashion savvy, then you may want to opt for a tie and shirt in a box combo. Many stores have these. They are typically a shirt and a matching tie in a box. Make sure your suit and clothes have all been dry cleaned and have no wrinkles as well. As for the women, I would also recommend staying more on the conservative side with your attire. A suit with a long sleeved shirt, tucked in with a belt, is definitely the way to go. You will also want comfortable shoes because chances are you will be on your feet most of the day. You don’t want to be worrying about your shoes. Also, go light on the makeup and jewelry.
Small earrings would be fine. You want to show the professional side to you. If you look great, you will in turn feel great! Happy jobbing!
