Speakeasy to Come Back to Life
Doctors Andrew Larson, a local anesthesiologist, and his wife, Lindsey Pennington, a plastic surgeon, bought the former Arlington Hotel at auction. The centerpiece of their plans is the Every Man a King distillery. The Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission unanimously approved a Special Use permit for the property at its meeting April 3.

Roadrunner Cleans Up
Smith purchased the company from its original owner back in 1985. “Roadrunner was built in the summer of ’69, just like that popular Bryan Adams song,” Smith said. “Carl McCain was a well-known man in Shreveport. His business was state of the art, and the wash was so busy, they sometimes had to hire a policeman to direct traffic.

Super ATV owner and president Harold Hunt of Madison, Ind., recently joined Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards in announcing his company is investing $4.35 million to develop a manufacturing and distribution facility in Shreveport, where it will specialize in aftermarket parts for a variety of all-terrain vehicles.
