Centenary Suzuki School Christmas Performance

Guest Performers: Centenary Suzuki School, under the direction of Daniel Santelices Tuesday, Dec. 19, 4:30 p.m. Tower Ballroom Since its opening in 1977, the Centenary Suzuki School has been training students of all ages on the violin, viola, and the cello. The Suzuki Method was conceived by Suzuki, a Japanese violinist, in the mid 20th century from the desire to bring beauty to the lives of children in Japan after the devastation of World War II. He believed every child can achieve a high level of music achievement. Experience the musical achievements of the Centenary Suzuki School in this wonderful holiday offering. Cost: Free. Centenary College Choir Christmas Concert

Guest Performers: Centenary College Choir, under the direction of David Hobson, PhD, director of music at Centenary Thursday, Dec. 7, 5:30 p.m., with reception at 5 p.m. Franks Community Centre The Centenary College Choir, known as America’s Singing Ambassadors, will kick off the holiday season at The Oaks of Louisiana with a contemporary approach to classic Christmas favorites. The internationally acclaimed group has traveled the world for seven decades and has a repertoire that ranges from Bach to Broadway, oratorio to opera, world folk music to contemporary church music. The Christmas concert will be preceded by a reception with punch and hors d’oeuvres. Cost: Free. Registration is required.
