Startup Prize Recently Awarded to PathEx
Shreveport’s Louisiana Startup Prize recently awarded $25,000 to Sinead Miller and Alex Weisler, co-founders of PathEx, an extracorporeal bloodcleansing device designed to selectively remove bacteria, including multi-drugresistant strains and endotoxin from circulating blood.

RIVERFRONT PARK REVITALIZATION
The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce’s (GSCC) Leadership Program Class of 2017 is rolling up their sleeves and literally digging into community service. The Leadership group is kicking off Gateway to the Red (GR), a community beautification project aimed at revitalizing the section of Shreveport’s downtown riverfront across from SciPort.

The longtime journalist and political aide Lou Gehrig Burnett has been installed in the (LSU) Manship School of Mass Communication Hall of Fame at the annual Gala in Baton Rouge.

REVEL in COMMUNITY
The 42nd Annual Red River Revel Arts Festival will open on Saturday, Sept. 30, and will run through Oct. 7 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. The Revel is now the largest outdoor arts festival in northern Louisiana, attracting more than 120,000 visitors annually.

Dr. Susan Shattuck said busy careers kept her and husband, Doug Fryett, from putting much effort into the home they built in Spring Lake’s Beaux Rivages neighborhood in 2004. When she was ready to redo the home, Shattuck heard that her go-to decorator, former Shreveport interior designer Stephen Forte, had moved out of the area.
