A PAY RAISE?
Superintendent Lamar Goree said this month that he’s been charged by the Caddo Parish School Board with looking at how to give “everyone a raise in our school system.” That’s after nearly 60 percent of Caddo Parish Schools were scored by the Louisiana Department of Education as “D” and “F.

Yes, I agree that the government must become involved, but with careful study of the entire situation, causes and effects, with the entire community being involved before anything is done.

In what was a big surprise to local government officials, ad valorem assessments in Caddo Parish declined in 2016. At a time when the City of Shreveport and Caddo Parish are scrambling to continue past funding levels, this economic reality was not good news.

There are two basic categories of hearing loss. One is caused by damage to the inner ear or the auditory nerve. This type of hearing loss is permanent. The second kind occurs when sound can’t reach the inner ear. This can be repaired medically or surgically.
