To compete at optimal performance for the limited consumer dollars, financially efficient companies maximize their profits with a limited asset base, which creates a competitive advantage for themselves over their competitors.

Money in Politics
The U.S. Supreme Court’s controversial “Citizens United” decision in 2010 changed the landscape of political spending on elections. It threw out restrictions on spending by independent groups and allowed the creation of Super PACs or so-called Outside Groups.

Rehabilitation Institute Reimagines Iconic Property
For years the building that has been transformed into the WK Rehabilitation Institute stood vacant with “For Sale” signs. It had closed in 2010 after financial problems forced the company that purchased it from Doctors’ Hospital to close it permanently.

PREVENTING TOOTH DECAY
Those six-month dentist visits may not be a fan favorite, but they’re critical in preventing tooth decay. Tooth decay, also known as cavities, is caused by a breakdown of the enamel. Though oral hygiene is important at all stages of life, the two-a-day flossing and brushing can get lost in the busyness of adult daily life.

North Louisiana Economic Partnership (NLEP) hosted their 2017 annual meeting, titled Top Event: A Celebration of Economic Development in North Louisiana, at Sam’s Town Casino in Downtown Shreveport on Jan. 25. Several guests spoke on how political and economic forces will impact the regional economy in 2017.
