In November, the Shreveport Opera Guild hosted their annual fund-raiser, Les Boutiques de Noël. This year's theme was The Great Outdoors. Dozens of vendors were on hand with all kinds of items for sale, including clothing, food, jewelry, yard art and more. Proceeds benefit the Shreveport Opera.

On Oct. 27, Chianti's Restaurant in South Highlands hosted a special wine tasting event. There were more than a dozen wines available to sample along with a collection of delicious appetizers. Guests were able to visit with a wine expert and purchase the featured wines at special discount prices.

In late October, Horseshoe Casino and Hotel unveiled their Walk of Legends with a black-tie gala that was attended by more than 500 people. The Walk of Legends salutes individuals who have helped with Horseshoe's success in being the number one casino since day one. The first three inductees to the Walk of Legends were Horseshoe founder Jack Binion, former vice president of governmental and community affairs Frank Williams and the casino's first training manager, Ronda Russo. Earlier in the afternoon before the gala, the three inductees unveiled monument stones with each of their names on them which have been installed at the main entrance to the hotel and casino. Horseshoe plans to make this an annual event.
