ThefundingwasmadepossiblebyagrantfromLockheed MartinCorporation.Thegrantswillbeusedtoengageveterans seekingtrainingforemploymentinthemanufacturingsector. CentralCarolinaCommunityCollegewillutilizeexistingveteran
servicestorecruitandidentifypromisingveteranstoenter intomanufacturingpathwaysbyofferingscholarshipfunding; LorainCountyCommunityCollegewillpilotanaccelerated ManufacturingCareerAwarenessandReadinessprogram customizedforveterans;andBossierParishwillworkwithcollege veterans’groupstorecruitandprovidetrainingforveteransin AdvancedManufacturingandMechatronicsprograms.Criteria fortherecipientsofthegrantincludedthequalityofservicesfor veteransandtheimpactandscaleofactivities.Morethan80 percentofmanufacturersreporttheycannotfindpeopletofill theirskilledproductionjobs.Meanwhile,thousandsofservice menandwomenreturnhomeeachmonth,possessingnotonly anexemplaryworkethic,butalsorigoroustechnicaltrainingand experience.Manufacturersareinneedofhigh-skilled,quality workers,andveteransholdtheleadershipskills,teamwork andacceleratedlearningcurvethatassurethemtobevaluable employees.
