Steve Simon Construction is a company with more than just a solid foundation, it’s a family owned business that has been raising roofs in the Shreveport/Bossier City area for four generations. Vice President Brad Simon says it’s in the Simon blood to be a part of building communities. “My grandfather moved up from New Orleans and started working for his father-in-law in the late 1940’s. When my father graduated from LSU he started working for the family business in the 70’s, and my brother Clay and I came to work for my dad when we finished school,” he said. His father Steve, President of Steve Simon Construction, is proud of the long standing family run business. “I worked during the summers in high school with my dad, so it was the plan when I graduated that I would go to work with him. It’s been a pleasure working with my sons - working with family isn’t always easy, but we get along well, and it’s been great.”

The team at Steve Simon Construction specialize in residential construction on every level. “We build everything from small starter homes to million dollar plus custom homes. We are also developers and have been involved in many of Southeast Shreveport’s neighborhoods,” Clay said. “From University Terrace in the 70’s to Acadiana Place, The Bluffs, Azalea Gardens, Long Lake Estates, St. Charles Place, Norris Ferry Crossing, and Pierremont Place on Fern Avenue. Also in Rosedale and the Gardens of Southgate in Bossier City. We have done lots of developing, and we will continue with that tradition,” he said. The crew at Steve Simon Construction are able to work with a variety of different styles and plans. “We will build whatever the customer wants or whatever is trending at that point. We work with several different architects and draftsmen, or if it’s a custom house that someone has brought in that was drawn by someone else, we can work with that as well,” explained Brad.

The thing that makes Steve Simon Construction stand out is the experience and personal touch they bring to each project. “I’ve got 40 years of experiences and have built well over 1,000 houses over the years,” says Steve. “I think having a personal touch and relating to people is very important. You have to treat everyone as individual and give personal attention to really provide the best experience and result for the customer.”

Brad couldn’t agree more. “We are very easy to communicate with and are always on the job. Each of us always know what stage each project is in, so we work together to make sure things are done well and on time. We do things the old way: instead of trying to cut a dollar here or there, some things are worth doing right the first time so that it doesn’t have to be done a second time. That makes a difference in the end.”

After four generations of building communities in the Shreveport/Bossier City area, the Simons still love what they do, and it shows in the commitment to their work and the quality results they achieve in the homes they build. “Every day is unique. Whether it’s being out in the field looking at potential properties, or working with customers, or working with sub-contractors, it’s always different,” says Clay. “You don’t get stuck in a routine of every day doing the same thing over and over again. Every day brings a new challenge and we are constantly learning. We truly love what we do.”
