40 Under 40 announcement party

The Young Professionals Initiative hosted an announcement party Sept. 18 to reveal the 2014 class of 40 Under 40, presented by The Forum. The Petroleum Club played host for the event where each name was unveiled to the crowd of people. The gala event, where this year’s Professional of the Year will be revealed, will be held Dec. 5 at Horseshoe Casino. Profiles of the 40 nominees will appear in the Nov. 12 issue of The Forum.

Industry/Small Businesses of the Year

The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2014 Top Businesses of the Year Award Luncheon on Sept. 25 at the Shreveport Country Club. The annual awards ceremony is presented by The Forum and the J. Pat Beaird Memorial. This year’s Industry of the Year Award was presented to CenterPoint Energy. The 2014 Small Business of the Year awards went to Great Raft Brewing, Rhino Coffee and Fire Tech Systems. The keynote guest speaker was Maj. Gen. Garrett Harencak, who serves as the assistant chief of staff for strategic deterrence and nuclear integration.
