Green Clinic Aesthetics in Ruston offers a full menu of dermatological services provided by nurse practitioner Anna Stephens under dermatologist Dr. Josh Mandrell. They are excited to announce they are the first in North Louisiana to provide Ultherapy, the latest in non-invasive skin rejuvenation from Ulthera.
Ultherapy is a new procedure in which ultrasound waves are used to stimulate collagen production to naturally lift and tighten the skin. It can be done on the décolleté, neck, lower face and upper face. “It’s the latest up and coming treatment of choice because it is non-invasive and it’s the only FDA approved non-invasive way to lift and tighten the skin. Everything is done in one treatment depending on the level of correction that is needed, and that one treatment will provide visible results generally within 3-6 months and the results can last for up to two years,” said nurse practitioner Anna Stephens. “The first pass goes down to the tissue just above the muscle and disrupts the tissues and fibers above the muscles. Anytime there is a disturbance in the body, the natural healing process is for collagen to form. By disturbing those fibers above the muscles, collagen will form, and it will lift and tighten the skin,” she explains. “The second pass goes into the dermal layer and stimulates the fibers in that layer, and again, there will be collagen formed and you’re getting a double dose of collagen that will lift the skin.
One of the great things about Ulthera is that there is no downtime after having the treatment. Patients are able to go right back to their day without worrying about an extensive recovery. “Most people don’t have three weeks to recover out of work. This is a more affordable way to get results. We don’t claim to take the place of a facelift, but it’s a good bridge for people that aren’t quite ready for that downtime or they’re afraid of surgery or they don’t have the money for surgery - it’s just a good bridge,” said Stephens. “It’s good
for people who have had a facelift and are a few months or a few years out from their facelift and are starting to notice a little bit of sagging and they aren’t ready to go back in for that cut. It’s a good way to give them a little enhancement and buy them some time as well. The two work really well together.”
There are several clinical trials in process right now with the FDA to get Ultherapy approved for use on additional areas of the body. “We are really excited to see what comes from that,” said Stephens. “We will be able to offer more treatments for our clients.” Ultherapy can be combined with other treatments such as fillers and Botox, which Stephens believes will be another way to enrich the results for the patient. “We can do Botox and Ulthera two weeks apart. It will be an enhancement for sure.” Before and after pictures of Utherapy are available at ultherapy.com Green Clinic Aesthetics also offers laser treatments for hair removal, skin rejuvenation, nail fungus, acne, spider and varicose veins. They also work with Botox and fillers, and carry the SkinMedica and Obagi skincare products. Consultations are complimentary, and all treatments are individualized for each client. “We try to focus on getting the skin healthy. I don’t want people to come in and spend thousands of dollars and then go home and use soap. It’s like not brushing your teeth in between dental cleanings. We focus on maintenance at home. We are all busy and we don’t want to spend an hour on our skincare routine in the morning and at night. We try to tailor to each person that comes in,” said Stephens.
