New location donated to nonprofit by Willis-Knighton
United Way of Northwest Louisiana has moved from 402 Edwards St. to its new location at 820 Jordan St., Suite 370, last month.
The new office location was donated to the United Way by Willis-Knighton Health System.
“Willis-Knighton provides in-kind services as well as financial support to a variety of worthy nonprofit organizations in this community,” James K. Elrod, president and chief executive officer of WK, said. “We do this as part of our ‘tithe the bottom line’ philosophy of philanthropy. We are pleased to offer assistance to the United Way.”
Dr. Bruce Willson Jr., president and CEO of United Way of Northwest Louisiana is thankful for WK’s gift.
“I cannot thank Willis-Knighton enough for their great generosity,” Willson said. “Their gift has allowed us to deploy resources once used for rent and invest them in meeting the needs of our communities.”
The new office suite donated holds eight offices, a data room, break room and a conference room.
Jessica Hall, vice president of marketing and public relations for United Way, said the nonprofit’s move was an effort to continue to keep costs low.
“United Way of Northwest Louisiana strives to be a good community partner,” Hall said. “By doing this, we know it is essential that we keep our overhead costs down while providing the serves that our communities so desperately need. Moving into the WK space allows us to operate free of rent and utilities, placing the money that would have gone towards those items back in to key programs.”
Hall said the new location has plenty of parking and security.
“Downtown was a great location,” Hall said. “We were close to many of the individuals and organizations that benefit from our services as well as the companies and employees that donate to the United Way of Northwest Louisiana. But this isn’t a move that has put us out of reach.”
The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce leases the Edwards Street location. At the time of press there was no tenant. Anyone interested in the space can contact Paul Williams at 677-2516.
Hall said the new location was up and running within the week.
“We still have some items that we are sorting through at the Edwards Street location,” she said. “However, we want to thank Hunt, Guillot and Associates for the loan of moving boxes.”
