Life Savers Ball: The Life Savers Masquerade was held Sept. 7 at Sam’s Town Casino. The Phantom of the Opera-themed event supported Feist- Weiller Cancer Center and cancer research and treatment in the area and raised $140,000 for the cause.


DigiFest: CoHabitat was welcomed to its new location Sept. 20. Guests enjoyed live music and good times and celebrated the fi rst day of DigiFest South. There was a ribbon-cutting and open house. DigiFest is a digital arts festival and technology fair.


SHBA Career Fair: The Southern Hills Business Association presented its annual Business Expo and Career Fair on Sept. 24 at the Summer Grove Baptist Church Events Center. The expo was sponsored by Gibsland Bank and Trust and the career fair by shreveporthelpwanted.com. There were more than 70 booths.



Provenance: The
clubhouse and pool opening at Provenance took place outdoors and
included a pig roast. It was held Sept. 26. Food was by Drake Catering.
Earshot Graffi ti provided music for the evening event.



Carousel Ride: The
GREAT Carousel Ride was held Sept. 27 at 421 Texas St. The goal was to
raise $50,000 for Great Results Equine Assisted Therapies, the
therapeutic horseback riding program of The Arc Caddo-Bossier, and they
have raised more than $70,000 for the program. Food was provided by
Frank’s Pizza Napoletana, Bella Fresca, Biscotti’s at Lewis’ Gifts, Aly
B’s Bakery, John Cariere Catering of Fairfi eld Bed & Breakfast and
Superior’s Steakhouse.




La Film Prize: The
Louisiana Film Prize packed in a weekend Oct. 4 of events with three
venues showing movies divided up into 10 fi lms per slot. Downtown
Shreveport was pack with patrons, fi lmmakers and actors eager to see
the Top 20 fi lms and support local fi lmmaking.
