For more than 100 years, CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier has extended its healing ministry to all those living in or near Northwest Louisiana – and that commitment continues. Today, as a new era of health care emerges, CHRISTUS’ commitment and mission are stronger than ever. Energized by CHRISTUS Health’s $55 million dollar investment, CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center is being renovated and expanded, to include the addition of a new hospital annex. The services housed by the new facility will continue to be provided at the Schumpert campus near downtown Shreveport, until construction is complete in 2015. The first floor of the West Hospital Annex will be home to a new stateof-the art Cancer Treatment Center. The team of expert physicians, nursing and clinical staff from the Schumpert campus look forward to providing in the new location the same excellent, comprehensive cancer care for which they are known. A new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and expanded Birth Place will be built on the second floor, designed to provide familycentered care in a high tech setting. The third floor will house a new inpatient rehabilitation unit with full physical, occupational and speech therapy services. New locations are also planned for the Wound Care Center and Breast Care Center, in a completely renovated facility at the former Luby’s Cafeteria property, located at 1505 East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Two hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) chambers and specialized care for chronic hard-to-heal wounds will be provided in the Wound Center. The Breast Center will offer comprehensive breast imaging and diagnostic services in a relaxed, caring environment designed to ease the anxiety associated with breast care. Striving to be more than simply a hospital, CHRISTUS is strategically and proactively adapting to the needs of the community, while maintaining its century-old purpose. The mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ remains unchanged. CHRISTUS has always been a part of this community and will continue to provide health care choices.
