Moonbot Studios creative partner Brandon Oldenburg will be among 276 artists and executives invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences based on distinguished contributions to theatrical motion pictures.
“To all those concerned about my academics, this is what comes out of staring out the window in Algebra class dreaming about making movies,” said Oldenburg.
Oldenburg joins Moonbot Studios creative partner, William Joyce to represent the film and entertainment industry in Louisiana within AMPAS®. “I didn’t know Brandon when he was in school staring out of that window, but it’s nice to have him in the club,” said Joyce.
Both Joyce and Oldenburg are now members of the short films and feature animation branch whose members determine the finalists for awards in the same categories. Both will fulfill Academy member responsibilities including voting on the winners of Oscars in all fields and providing input on Academy rules and procedures.
Oldenburg co-directed “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore,” which received an Academy Award for best animated short film.
