We know you have already been dazzled by the eye-catching cover, and you will be even more impressed when you read our interview with cover model Mr. Kippers at his Fairfield estate. After being rescued from a terrible life of abuse, he shares his newfound good-fortune with others through his goodwill and charitable donations. The mogul’s latest passion: a camouflage line of bow ties to show support (and funds!) for retired service dogs such as those that have served our military and our police. While he takes a little break from touring, he introduced us to a pair of his besties, Amanda Clingan and Master FitzKippers, who help keep his image shining brightly.

Among the abundance of goodies in this issue – including delicious food and recipes, the best place to get a hot cider or something with a little more kick – you will find your taste buds sufficiently tingled. A crown roast of pork with cornbread dressing, green bean and bacon bundles, and rhubarb and cherry cobbler will add flavor and sophistication to your menu. Our Lady Who Lunches, Lynn Laird, and Accents’ Chef John Strand will have you humming a holiday tune whether sipping holiday spirits or preparing a fine feast.

Deneé Locke is a woman for all seasons. Along with being a successful business person, Locke is an elected member of the Caddo Parish School Board, serves Providence House and is this year’s ATHENA Award recipient for her outstanding community leadership. Read about and be inspired by her commitment to making a difference in our community and her passion for education.

Another trio of women that will dazzle you are our “gilded lilies” who drive three local guilds to high levels of success. These arts supporters are currently serving as president of their respective organizations. Meet Sue Wyche, president of the Shreveport Little Theatre Guild; Sherry Pendley, president of the Shreveport Symphony Guild; and Susannah Poljak, president of the Shreveport-Bossier Opera Guild. These ladies are more than smart. They are passionate, love their organizations and the arts, and take their roles in their families to heart.

Our Christmas “Wish Guide” really does have something for everyone! Local merchants turned out their fave items to share with our readers. Visit them and tell them CityLife sent you. Shopping local is a responsibility we should all take seriously. Not only do small and boutique merchants offer the most unique items to choose from, they participate and give back to our community in many ways. Let’s show our appreciation this holiday season and pay it forward right here at home.

Our next issue of CityLife publishes on Feb. 1, 2017. In the meantime, we wish you happiness and all the blessings of the season and the new year. May you find fellowship with friends, break bread with loved ones and welcome 2017 with good cheer. God bless you all and Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
