Dr. April Patton of the Family Medical and Geriatric Center in Shreveport practices family medicine as well as geriatric care. Originally from Blanchard, Dr. Patton graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a degree in biological sciences. She also works at The Oaks where she is the on-site Physician. She completed a residency in family medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center with the Department of Family Medicine and prior to returning to Shreveport, Dr. Patton was part of St. Peter’s Medical Group in Helena, Mont., where she was a family practice physician.

“I always wanted to pursue medicine,” she said. “My absolute favorite part is the relationship with the patient and the sense of trust that comes from continuity care.”

Memberships and affiliations for Dr. Patton include the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Board of Family Medicine, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association and American College of Physicians. She has been blessed to have a great support and mentoring system on her path as a physician.
