Southern Gypsy Cottage

Tracey Prator is a local artist and business-woman who has learned the secret to success – helping other women in business. Prator became the owner of Southern Gypsy Cottage in Bossier City, in November, 2015. She hoped the store would become two things: a place to sell her art and locally made products, and a space for other artists and crafters to do the same.

“It just so happens that all of my vendors are women! I think it’s wonderful that we all have a place to show and sell our work; whereas some may not have otherwise had the means to do so.”

A feature favorite of Southern Gypsy Cottage is the bath and body line Bee Hippie that Prator created for Hummer and Son using their leftover beeswax. The products are made using all natural ingredients and include hand, foot, and body balms, lip balms and foaming hand and body wash. Prator can also be found selling her Bee Hippie alongside Hummer and Son Honey at the Shreveport Farmer’s Market in June.

Have a seat on the cozy front porch; serve yourself some coffee, lemonade or tea; the Cottage invites guests to simply sit and connect. “It’s a home away from home!” said Prator.

Also found at the Cottage are Prator’s line of custom essential oil blends called The Gentle Gypsy; thus Prator’s nickname “GG” by her peers and friends.

“We sell everything from body products, candles, children and women’s clothing to wreaths, bows, jewelry and home décor,” said Prator.

If you come to the cottage looking for a unique, handmade gift or a treasure for yourself, you won’t leave empty-handed. “We all strive to keep the quality of our products high, and our prices affordable. It’s about helping each other and giving back to the community.”
