At Regional Hospice, owner and administrator, Toni Camp, has been blessed with success in caring for terminally ill patients largely due to her employment of staff who share her love and compassion for each individual patient in their care.

“Our staff loves to take care of their patients,” said Toni. Many of her staff members have worked with her before, and after her brief hiatus in 2006, came back so that they could work for her again when she returned to the hospice business in 2010.

“Majority (of staff) have worked together and know each other,” said Toni. “I think it makes them a much better team as far as communication and taking care of the patients and families.”

With a team of employees that have been in the industry for so long, they each bring extensive knowledge in caring for patients and families.

In such a high stress profession, turnovers are very common; with employees lasting about two years at any given hospice care facility. At Regional Hospice, Toni doesn’t have this problem.

“Taking care of them (employees), that’s my job and their job is to take care of the patients,” said Toni. “They know that if they work hard they’ll be rewarded. That’s what makes them work hard.”

There’s no better example of Toni’s generosity towards her employees than office manager, Cliff Wynn.

Cliff calls Arkansas home, but lives in Shreveport Monday through Thursday so he can continue to work Regional Hospice because of the great working relationship he has with Toni.

“It’s great to work with a place where you love the people and your job,” said Cliff. He adds, “coming back to work for Toni (after her hiatus) was the best thing I ever did.”

By making her employees a priority, it’s the patient with Regional Hospice that reaps the benefits.

Toni is proud of her staff for “going above and beyond,” by tailoring each care plan to the individual patient and even visiting their patients more frequently to help ensure that they live their final days to their fullest.

“They (staff) spend the time with that patient and family to help them understand, to teach them and empower them to get through those last days and weeks,” said Toni.

She explains how many hospice patients are not confined to their home. Many are able to take a vacation or drive. Regional Hospice believes hope is individualized in many different packages and we are solving problems and changing lives.. one day at a time.
