From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. the female doctors at Quick Care Urgent Care Center are working with patients in a rapid response setting to treat each patient with care that needs immediate attention.

Dr. Catherine Speights is one of the doctors treating a diverse group of patients.“At the Quick Care clinics we are able to treat a diverse group of people from young to old,” Speights said. “The challenge faced daily as physicians in an urgent care setting is that we are not restricted to one discipline but to many.

Speight said Quick Care is for minor illnesses and injuries but physicians must be able to recognize life threatening illnesses/injuries and transfer them to the appropriate level of care when necessary. “As physicians we must also use this opportunity to diagnose chronic issues and provide appropriate education and assistance to patients about these conditions,” Speights said. “The most rewarding thing about being a physician is when you actually make a difference in someone’s life.”

Speights completed her undergraduate work at Louisiana Tech and graduated from LSU Medical Center in 1998. She completed her residency at Baton Rouge General in 2001. Speights is Board Certified in Family Medicine. She has extensive experience in emergency and urgent care medicine. Prior to coming to Shreveport, Speights worked at an urgent care center in Baton Rouge. She joined Quick Care in April, 2010.

Dr. Mandy Ton joined Quick Care in 2012 and enjoys her work at the center.

Ton has been practicing in our community since 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas in Arlington, graduating Magna Cum Laude with honors and distinction, and her medical doctors degree at M.D. Ross University School of Medicine in Portmouth, Dominica. Dr. Ton is a board certified Family Practice physician who has trained, researched, and volunteered in a number of places throughout the United States.

Fluent in English, Chinese (Mandarin and Catonese), and Vietnamese, Ton has the ability to communicate to a larger population in our area. Ton’s experiences in the United States and abroad have become a great asset to our clinic.

Dr. Savita Thorat has been working for Quick Care for a year. “[We are skilled in] providing efficient, compassionate and professional patient centered care to all ages of patients and for variety of illnesses,” Thorat said. “We are able to take care to the patients when when their primary care physician is unavailable especially after hours, weekends and holidays.”

Thorat attended medical school at KIMS Medical Institute, India and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis in 2012. She is board certified in family medicine and integrated and holistic medicine and enjoys being a part of the Quick Care centers.
