Women’s Health Clinic

(318) 212-5790 | 2508 Bert Kouns Ste. 201, Shreveport, LA 71118 www.whc-shreveport.com

Louisiana native and Shreveport trained Dr. Lauren Runnels of Willis-Knighton’s Women’s Health Clinic enjoys caring for women through every phase of their lives. “You get to follow women as teenagers, as they begin their families, and then throughout menopause. You stay with them through their major life changes,” Dr. Runnels said.

Originally from Baton Rouge, she earned her medical degree and completed her OB/GYN residency at LSU Health Shreveport. Dr. Runnels is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Driven by a passion for women’s health Dr. Runnels provides comprehensive care in the clinic and hospital setting. “I enjoy the relationships I have with each of my patients.”

Dr. Runnels is proud to offer a variety of in-office procedures, such as NovaSure, to stop or lighten menstrual cycles without hormones or hysterectomy, and Essure, a form of permanent sterilization. “My goal is to provide the most effective options to each of my patients. We work together to decide what is best for her.” Dr. Runnels specializes in da Vinci robotic gynecology surgery. Minimally invasive procedures have cost saving benefits, as well as faster recovery times that allow patients the ability to quickly resume normal daily activities. “I am pleased to have the technology available to perform minimally-invasive techniques that reduce pain and scarring and limits the hospital stay,” she indicates.

Dr. Runnels has expertise in caring for patients with high risk pregnancies. While collaborating with maternal fetal medicine and the neonatal intensive care unit, she is an essential part of the team that provides a multi-disciplinary approach to providing quality care and safe delivery for mom and baby.

One of the most common struggles among women is that they are so busy caring for others, they tend to not make themselves a priority. “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Dr. Runnels encourages women to take time for themselves. “It is important to maintain a healthy balance for you and your family.” This was a priority for Dr. Runnels as she navigated through medical school and into private practice. Being a parent to her daughter and step-son, as well as a full time physician, has helped her relate to her patients. “I’m very blessed to have partners that share common values. We all have families and support each other,” she said.

Dr. Runnels is currently accepting new patients. To make an appointment, call 318.212.5790.
