Women’s Health Clinic

(318) 212-5790 | 2508 Bert Kouns Suite 210, Shreveport, LA 71118 www.whc-shreveport.com

Dr. Ashley Martin Hirsch is giving back to her hometown community as an OB/GYN specialist at Willis-Knighton’s Women’s Health Clinic. She earned her medical degree from LSU Health Shreveport and continued her training in obstetrics and gynecology at LSU Health New Orleans.

“The Shreveport-Bossier area has a great sense of community. Living away for a period of time has shown me how special Northwest Louisiana is to work and raise a family,” she said. Dr. Hirsch practices obstetrics and gynecology with a focus on well women care, menstrual irregularities, adolescent gynecology, and high-risk obstetrics care.

Dr. Hirsch specializes in high-risk pregnancies, collaborating with maternal fetal medicine specialists and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Willis- Knighton South. She offers a vaginal birth option, known as VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), for women who have previously had a cesarean delivery. Dr. Hirsch specializes in robotic gynecologic surgery, a minimally invasive option.

One of the most common health-related problems she sees in women is a lack of taking care of themselves due to busy schedules and juggling responsibilities. “Many women are so busy taking care of everyone else in their life that they don’t focus on their own health. It’s important for women to maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat well, exercise regularly and attend annual visits with her doctor. I tell my patients you cannot take care of everyone else in your life if you aren’t taking care of yourself, too.”

Dr. Hirsch was drawn to OB/GYN because she has always been interested in women’s health and issues that affect women, both physically and psychosocially. She enjoys being able to treat women as they transition from adolescents to motherhood to menopause. “I enjoy taking care of women of all ages,” she said. “The beauty of OBGYN is you get to develop relationships with your patients that last throughout their lifetime.”

As a female leader in the Shreveport-Bossier community, Dr. Hirsch has always looked up to strong, driven women and she hopes that her own experiences can affect future generations. “If I can be that for young women, that will be a huge accomplishment,” she said.

Dr. Hirsch is currently accepting new patients. To make an appointment, call 318.212.5790.
