Faith and love can move mountains. Dr. Judith McGimsey’s faith and her love of teaching led her down a long and winding road from West Virginia, to Pennsylvania, to North Carolina and finally to Shreveport – all the way from The Pentagon. In her position at the Department of Transportation and Department of Defense, assigned to the Pentagon, is where she met and worked with a man from Shreveport who she would eventually call her husband. And, as all things work together for good, on that journey, she found her way to St. Joseph Catholic School in Shreveport. In December, 2015, she moved to Shreveport and became their Principal.

“My 22 year career in education has been in multiple levels from teaching to professional development training.”, says Dr. McGimsey. “I was a middle and high school teacher for a number of years, teaching Mathematics and Science in grades 6-9. I worked as an assessment educational coordinator for the North Carolina Department of Education where I was on a team that developed reports on the North Carolina testing program for schools, counties, and the state department.”

Dr. McGimsey’s spirit is bright and her presence is refreshing. Being around her, you just know that she’s exactly where she wants to be – and, more importantly, where she is meant to be! You’ll see her around and among the students, camera in hand, more than just a Principal! More like the missing piece of a puzzle this campus has been longing for.
