Robinson Film Center, Sci-Port have unique offerings
Robinson Film Center
Shreveport-Bossier City has been referred to as the Hollywood South, and over the past 10 years, the movie industry has brought many jobs and opportunities to the area. An opportunity for children to celebrate the world of cinema is available this summer through the Robinson Film Center, located at 617 Texas St. The program will showcase the commitment to its mission to promote the highest standards in film and media education, and the young actors/directors will get a firsthand experience on a set.
Students who have completed third through 12th grade can learn to write, direct, perform and film during one of the four upcoming summer sessions:
Music Video Camp, Comedy Camp, Scary Movie Camp and Murder Mystery Camp.
For $175 per camp session ($140 for RFC members), children can learn the ins and outs of the movie industry.
Meghan Hochstetler, education director at the Robinson Film Center, said, “At our camps, we make a movie from start to finish in a week. On Fridays, friends and families get to come to our movie premiere.
“The campers do everything from costumes, sets, acting, directing, camera and sound. They get the full experience of what it’s like to be on a film set.”
