Boston Logan International Airport is planning a billion-dollar renovation of its JetBlue-anchored Terminal C.

The Massachusetts Port Authority voted to approve negotiations on the proposed redevelopment, which would cost a reported $1 billion to create high ceilings, add new seating and provide more dining and retail options.

Terminal C was built in 1967 and is one of Logan’s busiest terminals. It is home to Jet- Blue Airways, Cape Air, Aer Lingus and TAP Air Portugal departures.

JetBlue and its development partner, Vantage Group, would hire the contractor for the project and cover all construction costs, according to Massport.

Massport would not provide any funding for the project, officials said.

Massport is currently responsible for managing all of the services in the terminal, including bathrooms, utilities and concessions. The new deal would amend JetBlue’s lease to enable the airline to sublease the management of the terminal to Vantage.

Massport noted that details of the proposal redevelopment are not finalized and would require future board approval.

Multiple other improvement projects are already underway at Logan Airport, including a new multi-level parking garage at Terminal E and roadway improvements between terminals.

Massport’s $1.4 billion budget for fiscal 2027 was approved in June, which was built with a forecast for minimal growth. From July 2025 through May 2026, 39.1 million passengers traveled through Logan Airport, 2% below last year’s benchmark and 0.9% below forecasts, according to Massport.
