As the Trump administration prepares us to present his state of the union address, it is clear to me and most Americans the state of our union is in peril as a result of the President’s anti-American, anti-democratic and unconstitutional actions.

When the Trump administration took over from the Biden administration in the beginning of their second term, they began by blowing up as many DEI and social programs as they could, leaving our country’s social network in shambles. They started by closing federal museums, state parks and removing as many federal employees as they could.

These actions clearly created a major economic challenge for all of those newly unemployed individuals, who were predominantly Black and female, the statistics later proved.

Though there are a couple of national economic trends that might appear to be positive, it is clear to any American who buys groceries or otherwise shops and participates in the American economy that the great savings and windfall that the Trump administration promised not only has not come to pass, but has gone in the opposite direction, increasing the real cost of living for the American family.

Yes, gas places may have dropped $.75 a gallon since the administration took office for its second term, but due to tariffs, every other primary expense that Americans families have to pay has gone up food, housing, energy, and healthcare. Instead of trying to provide solutions, Trump’s administration appears to be just doubling down on blatantly bad policies.

Now, I’m not going to go item for item and present each legislative disaster that they push through with part of their Big Beautiful Bill. But it should be clear to all that it was really an attack on American families.

The Trump administration’s presentation that healthcare saving accounts can make up for affordable healthcare is just another shell game. The reality is that the economic growth that federal statistics show only applies to the top 5%. The billionaire class seems to be making more and more while everybody else in America is receiving less and less from their paycheck because the expenses for all other items have skyrocketed.

Ask yourself, am I paying more for food now than I was a year ago? Am I paying more for Healthcare than I was a year ago? Am I paying more for insurance? Am I paying more for childcare? When Donald Trump sits in the chamber and tries to present a rosy view of the debacle his economic policies have created, just remember, he has consistently lied about almost every part of his political and professional career so why should this be different. And just because he has persuaded some in his party to go alone with the false rhetoric, we Americans know the truth, as do our paychecks and wallets.

Now regarding the ethical state of our American union that is even more damaged than the economical one. The Trump administrations masked ICE agents violent deportation of Americans immigrants, while separating children from families some times in direct violation of court orders is only surpassed by their murder of 2 American citizens in front of our very eyes and trying to lie to the American people about it.

The Trump administration’s assault on our freedoms and ethics, have damaged America to a point that may take years to repair. The state of our American Union is under attack and we as Americans must be ready to defend it with all our might, from all enemies foreign or domestic. It is up to us now.
