Invitation to Bid

The Brookline Housing Authority, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for the Kickham Apartments Elevator Modernization project in Brookline, Massachusetts in accordance with the documents prepared by BWA Architecture, Inc.

The project consists of: Modernization of the existing two (2) elevators within the building. HVAC, electrical and fire alarm work associated with elevators is also included. The project is located at 190 Harvard Street in Brookline, MA. The work is estimated to cost $1,100,000.

Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §§26 to 27H inclusive as well as the Federal Davis Bacon Act Prevailing Wage Rates.

THIS PROJECT IS BEING ELECTRONICALLY BID AND HARD COPY BIDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Please review the instructions in the bid documents on how to register as an electronic bidder. The bids are to be prepared and submitted at www.biddocsonline.com. Bid Documents will be available electronically at Biddocs online starting Wednesday, 07 January 2026 at 9am.

General Bids will be received until 2:00pm on Friday, 30 January 2026 and publicly opened online, forthwith.

All Bids should be submitted online at www.biddocsonline.com and received no later than the date and time specified above. General bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the Brookline Housing Authority.

There is a plan deposit of $50.00 per set (maximum of 2 sets) payable to BidDocs ONLINE Inc.

Plan deposits may be electronically paid or by check. This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for general bidders and for one set for sub-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty (30) days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. Additional sets may be purchased for $50.00.

Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), nonrefundable, payable to the BidDocs ONLINE Inc., to cover mail handling costs.

There will be a pre-bid conference/site visit on Wednesday, – 14 January 2026 at 10am at Kickham Apartments 190 Harvard Street, Brookline MA 02446. The deadline for asking questions for Filed Sub Bids is 2pm on Tuesday 20 January 2026. The deadline for asking questions for General Bids is 2pm on Tuesday 27 January 2026.

INVITATION TO BID

DICKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL – MASONRY RESTORATION

The City of Salem, the Awarding Authority, requests bids for the restoration of historic masonry and slate roofing at the Dickson Memorial Chapel located in Greenlawn Cemetery at 57 Orne Street, Salem, MA, which is listed in the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The project is being partially funded with a grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Project Fund (MPPF) through the Massachusetts Historical Commission and Salem Community Preservation Funding through the Salem Community Preservation Committee.

All work must be performed in accordance with the documents prepared by the architect: Spencer Preservation Group, 41 Valley Road, Suite 211, Nahant, Massachusetts 01908 (617-227-2675) and meet the Secretary of the Interior’s “Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties”. State law prohibits discrimination. Awarding of this contract is subject to Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity guidelines.

All bids for this project are subject to the stricter applicable public bidding laws of Massachusetts, including G.L. c.149, §44A through 44H, as amended and Federal Regulations 2 CFR 200.

General bidders must be DCAMM certified in the category “Historical Masonry”. Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified in their respective trades. All bids must include a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and a signed DCAMM Update Statement. General Bidders and Filed Sub-bidders shall have completed similar work on at least 3 buildings listed in the State Register of Historic Places within the past 5 years.

Bids shall be evaluated on the basis of price, previous experience with similar types of construction projects, ability to perform the work in a timely manner, and references. Sealed bids must be submitted to the City of Salem’s Purchasing Department no later than 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 04, 2026, to be eligible for consideration. Bid documents available at the Purchasing Office in Salem City Hall at 93 Washington Street as well as on www.salem.com/bids. There is no cost for copies of the bid sets.

A Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the project site, 57 Orne Street, Salem, MA, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM. While attendance is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged, as additional site visits cannot be guaranteed.
