Hannah Wilson and Jessica Brown

Two bright stars are moving into new roles at Boston’s WCVB. Hannah Wilson (left) will become the Director of Public Affairs and Community Services, and Jessica Brown (right) is the new Host of CityLine. Both are following in the footsteps of Karen Holmes Ward, who retired from her successful career at Channel 5 at the end of September.

Both Wilson and Brown have longstanding careers full of leadership experience in journalism, exemplifying their dedication to telling stories that spotlight their communities.

Before stepping into her new title, Wilson served as the Executive Producer of Public Affairs and Community Services since 2022.

Prior to her time at WCVB, Wilson spent two years as a senior corporate at BAE Systems, and worked as the director of external affairs at Boston-based Apprentice Learning.

Wilson serves on two Boston-based non-profit organizations: Building Impact and the Soccer Unity Project. She attended Simmons University, earning a B.A. in Public Relations and Marketing Communications with a minor in Spanish, and Northwestern University, where she earned an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communication.

Similar to Wilson, Brown also has an impressive background in media. An Emmy-award-winning journalist, she is a current co-anchor of NewsCenter 5 at Noon and NewsCenter 5 at 4 PM, additionally serving as a medical reporter.

An active member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Brown has a consistent history of service in Boston.

Before her time at WCVB Jessica, began her career in Atlanta, then became an anchor and host at WXIX-TV in Cincinnati, where her coverage included stories on the George Floyd protests..

Brown attended Florida State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree.

Both stepping into roles they are each more than qualified for, Brown and Wilson embody the foundation of public service that WCVB is built upon. As they continue their work, there is no doubt that each of them will continue to prosper with their inspiring dedication to giving back to the Greater Boston community.
