Rome D’Carlo Hip-hop artist, DJ, poet

If you’re a fan of open-mic nights in town, you may have seen Jerome “Rome D’Carlo” Pearson perform. Depending on the night of the week, Rome can be found at the Boston House of Jazz performing with a live band or at the Flat Iron, Blue Door or Sessions doing spoken word, poetry, or hip hop with a back-up guitarist. Even though he has only been performing solo for a year, crowds love him. Furthering a longstanding interest in hip hop, he bought all the classic albums he could find in high school. A former WUAG DJ and recent UNCG graduate, Rome said his primary influence is God, followed by Nas and Outkast. As a student, he did promotional work with Atlantic Records and interned at Rock 92. Now the Lawrenceville, Georgia native is studying sound engineering at GTCC, so be can engineer his own sessions and work at venues or with other artists.
