Foothills acquires beer division from Mooresville company
Winston-Salem-based Foothills Brewing has purchased the beer division of Carolina Beer & Beverage, a Mooresville company that started as microbrewery in 1997. Foothills, which is renowned for its Sexual Chocolate label, has acquired the Carolina Blonde and Cottonwood Ales labels from Carolina Beer & Beverage.
In a press release in January, the two companies said that no employees will lose their jobs at Carolina Beer & Beverage, which will focus on its bottling business. Foothills, meanwhile, has expanded its brewing capacity, having acquired a new facility last year off of Stratford Road so that it will not be limited to production at its downtown brew pub on West 4th Street.
Greensboro Coliseum sets attendance records
Three separate concerts that took place back to back at the Greensboro Coliseum over the Feb. 17-19 weekend saw record-setting attendance levels. New Edition’s 30th anniversary tour drew 7,646 fans on Feb. 17, Eric Church’s Blood, Sweat and Beers tour brought in 15,458 on Saturday and Miranda Lambert attracted 9,869 people on Sunday. Coliseum staff said the attendance records for the three concerts is testimony to the strength of the Piedmont Triad market as a destination for premier concerts. Among the markets Greensboro bested were Washington, DC; Nashville, Tenn. and Orlando, Fla.
