Some people think east Winston-Salem native Geno Segers excels naturally, but his success in a number of arenas illustrates how his hard work and dedication pays off. Segers played rugby internationally, has run multiple small businesses, played minor-league football, starred as Mufasa in the stage production of The Lion King here and abroad, created the Hold it on the Road Foundation working with youth, starred in the Disney XD show “Pair of Kings” and took a break from recording voiceovers for the second season of “Fort Boyard: Ultimate Challenge” to talk to YES! Weekly. “It’s one really hard effort after another,” he said. “I don’t really know how else to do it. I am lining myself up to be as successful as I can possibly be.” When he isn’t working at his foundation or in the entertainment industry, Segers loves to play guitar. He keeps one everywhere he goes, which is saying something for a man with homes in New Jersey, Los Angeles, one right here in Winston- Salem and permanent residency in New Zealand.
