Redneck rhapsody The Sooner State played a peripheral role in last week’s drama surrounding rock ’n’ roller Ted Nugent and his latest rant about President Barack Obama. At a National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis, the “Cat Scratch Fever” crooner railed that if Obama were re-elected in November, Nugent would “either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” The comments came during an interview with NRA news host Cam Edwards, a former reporter and talkshow host at KTOK-AM 1000 in Oklahoma City. Since an OKC native drew the wild-eyed screed out of Nugent, maybe it was only fitting that Secret Service agents did their own follow-up interview with the Nuge in Oklahoma, where he was rehearsing for a concert in Ardmore. A spokesman for the agency later said the matter had been resolved and that “the Secret Service does not anticipate any further action.” Chicken-Fried News supposes the “no action” bit also applies to the agency’s scandal regarding hookers in Colombia.
