Other than being both professional musicians and inexplicably strange, what do Das Racist, Twin Shadow, The Flaming Lips, Reggie Watts, Anamanaguchi, Chromeo and Jensen Sportag all have in common?

I’m sorry, but we were looking for “They’re appearing in the spring issue of Tepsic magazine.”

Oklahoma City man Morgan Tepsic is celebrating the proper release of his quarterly publication with a full-on party, 7 p.m. Saturday hosted by DNA Galleries, 1705 N.W. 16th.

For the issue, Tepsic sent between two and four disposable cameras to each of the aforementioned acts, imploring them to document their rock ’n’ roll lifestyles and return them in the mail. The results got laid out across an unorthodox, but eye-catching, 11-by-17 glossy.

“I wanted to create something different from the traditional magazine,” Tepsic said. “It got bigger than I expected.”

“Bigger” includes QR codes for additional photos available online at tepsicmag.

com, and a two-hour mixtape that Das Racist put together for Saturday’s release party.

While not specific logistically, Tepsic said the outlook for Tepsic is quite bright. “I want it to grow into a space for artists to claim bragging rights,” he said. Disposable cameras will be on hand at the release party to provide documentation for the next issue. —Matt Carney
