Tinsley Park Field of Dreams

WK Buildings Named for James K. Elrod
Elrod retired Sept. 30 after 56 years as president and CEO of Willis-Knighton Health System and was the longest-tenured hospital administrator in the country. He has been named president emeritus and remains on the board.

Gingerbread House Offers Hope
From the ages of 6 to 8, she was raped by an adult neighbor who threatened her into silence about the abuse. A few years later, after her parents moved to a new home, she fell into the clutches of an older teenage cousin. She suffered at his hands from age 11 to 13; her only avenue to tell her story was her diary.

YMCA Camp Forbing
The Y once owned about 50 acres of property at the site. Camp Forbing was home to the Y’s summer camp programs and a swimming pool, among other things. The Y took over operations there in the 1940s from the Louisiana Sunday School Association and operated the camp for 75 years.

Baseball Legend Inducted into Northwest Louisiana Walk of Stars
Louisiana Walk of Stars on Saturday, Oct. 16. The word “baseball” goes hand-in-hand with the name Todd Walker. Baseball has always been a big part of his life, from his record-setting days at Airline High School to numerous honors at LSU and then on to seven major league teams.

United Kennel Club Competition
The UKC Total Dog Invitational required dog and handler teams to qualify in the prior competition year to earn an invite to the prestigious threeday event. More than 100 qualified teams will be put to the test in various performance dog sports, such as agility, obedience and conformation, to accumulate points throughout the competition.
