It is really sad to hear that (Magdalena’s and Green River Café) are closing. I think we are ready in East Lansing to have vegan or vegetarian restaurants, but I don't think the owners were ready to run a restaurant. I had a few bad experiences at the Green River Café related to the service and not the food, and I was not the only one.

Burned wood, olive siding, an overgrown lawn and matter board windows accentuate this gem. The property has been derelict for over a year, said neighbor Chad Battle, a recent graduate of Cooley Law School.

By Neal McNamara
For a nonprofit company, Delta Dental certainly is a profit monster. The Okemos-based multi-state dental benefits company, according to its 2007 tax filing, made over $1.4 billion in revenue, and compensated its top officers and board members over $13 million — including $3.

By Angela Vasquez-Giroux
Every few years, it seems, a brave (or foolish, depending on how you look at it) member of Lansing City Council will attempt to change the Council’s rules to discourage the antics of the so-called “regulars” who dominate public comment at Council meetings.

By Angela Vasquez-Giroux
The odds that Lansing Police Chief Mark Alley will be heading to Grand Rapids to become the next U.S. Marshal of the Western District have dropped from slim to nearly none. But don't cry for Alley. Like the underdog in the championship game, he was happy to be in it.

By Drew Winter
Unlike traditional businesses with owners who invest capital and then hire employees, members own a co-operative business. Co-ops can take a number of different forms, but Harris plans on instituting a system in which members would pay annual dues in exchange for product discounts.

Happendance is looking for 50 and 60 dancers ages 11 to 80 to perform a piece on the lawn of the Capitol to celebrate Lansing’s 150th anniversary. Organizers say the choreography is “playful and pedestrian” and is open to anyone who can hear a beat, lead off with the correct foot and follow simple steps.
