Heaping holiday helpings YULE TIDE FEAST
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter one 8x8x2-inch baking dish and set aside. Cover roasting rack with aluminum foil and place in roasting pan. Rub entire roast with the next five ingredients, then place crown roast, bone ends up, on foil lined rack. Bake at 350 degrees F.

Maredia Bowdon, 89, is a “50 - plus Year Life Member” and former journalism teacher at Byrd High School. Bowdon had been to the home of a famous actress and met primitive artist Lucretia Glorioso during one of the numerous trips the WDC organized for its members.

Junior League Kitchen Tour
On Oct. 29, the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier kicked off its kitchen tour with brunch at Kitchen & Bath Cottage, followed by a visit to eight outstanding area kitchens. Participants visiting all homes were eligible for a chance to win a kitchen makeover.

Centaur Queen’s Tea
The Queen’s Tea is held each year and hosted by the previous year’s queen: Diane Aillet, Queen Centaur XXV, hosted the event at her home to honor Queen Centaur XXVI Jennifer Hammons as she begins her reign.

Norton Prohibition Party
In honor of Scarlett Passions: Bellocq’s Storyville, a “racy” Norton Art Gallery exhibit, a party was thrown to celebrate a rip-roaring time of scandal, glamour and risky business straight out of the 1920s. Held on Oct. 22.

Shreveport Opera Express
“Music of the Night” was held Sept. 23 at East Ridge Country Club as a fund-raiser for the Shreveport Opera Express (SOX) education and outreach program. Attendees were serenaded with musical theater and operatic favorites while dining on lobster and petit filet.

Downton Abbey
The Shreveport Little Theatre hosted an exclusive Downton Abbeythemed cocktail party at the home of Dr. Sherry Kerr on Oct. 28. A historic home on Fairfield Avenue known as Pinewold Manor was the perfect setting for the event, where local actors played the parts of valets and footmen, just like on the TV show.
