Drama Camp — Students entering grades six through 12 are invited to participate in an intensive training in the dramatic arts, with an emphasis on singing, dancing and acting. Academy students will learn the basics of producing their performance from beginning to end, including lighting, sound, set design and stage management. BDT Academy’s Summer Drama Camp sessions are held twice each summer for three weeks.
City Drama Camps — BDT Academy also has summer drama camps for children ages 5-12, in cooperation with the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department. We offer nine week-long drama camps, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The camps are held at Salberg Park at the corner of 19th Street and Elder Avenue. Each week is different and uses the technique of “playmaking,” which lets the children use their
imagination to adapt a familiar story or write their own script. Each
day consists of script writing or review, drama instruction, set and
costume making, rehearsal and outdoor playtime.

Imagination! Circus Arts
Camp is a chance for kids of any skill level to literally join the
circus! The camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an
entire week. Kids not only learn various circus skills, they also learn
how to prepare a specialized act of their choice for presentation, as
well as how to rehearse a full show that includes an allcamp finale! It
is a jam-packed week with tons of fun and energy. Each child picks his
or her act of focus as a “major.” They then follow a schedule that
changes each day to fit the needs of that particular group of campers
and their skills. The schedule includes “major” rehearsal times, as well
as group finale rehearsals that include everything from acro-stunting
and mini-tramp to Chinese pole and teeterboard. In between, we work on
theatre and performance techniques through games and exercises that
progress each day. The last day of the session, the campers rehearse the
fulllength show, and then perform the onehour show for their friends
and family!
Sessions are July 16-20 and July 23-27. For ages 8-16, $300 per child, per session.

Live music day camp. New
sessions begin every Monday through Friday all summer long. 9:30 a.m. –
1:30 p.m. We choose music that is fun and intelligent. In the past,
we’ve done Stevie Wonder, The Eagles, James Brown, B.B. King and more.
Students learn a couple
songs per day with professional music instructors all week long. By the
end of the week we are ready to perform a concert for parents and
friends to watch. The performance takes place during the last hour of
camp on Friday afternoon, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Mojo’s Music. Students

Forget arts and crafts and
morning swimming lessons. This summer, kids 7-18 will get the ultimate
summer camp experience: a chance to be immersed in the fundamentals of
rock and roll with School of Rock Summer Camps! There are two types of
camps: Performance Camps and Recording/Engineering Camps. Students
enrolled in the Rock and Roll Performance Camps will spend a full week
working in a hands-on atmosphere learning performance techniques and the
art of being in a rock band. The Recording/Engineering Camp will enable
students to learn the basic skills and techniques associated with
recording and producing a song from the ground up.
